Going on a Train Ride

Yesterday I took a 4 1/2 hour train ride to go visit my family up north. I'd rather pay someone else to drive then deal with the traffic through L.A. It was totally worth the money. The San Diego train station is so pretty! It was first opened in 1915. Sometimes I'm a architecture geek :)

The trains are called Surf Liners for a reason. More than half the trip is right on the coast. Such a beautiful view.

It amazes me that we still use trains. I felt like I was in an old movie or something.

I was planning on watching movies on my iPhone and listening to music the whole time, but a nice lady from Armenia sat down next to me and really liked to talk. I didn't want to be rude, so we talked for almost the whole trip. She moved to the U.S. 10 years ago and hasn't seen her son since. He stayed in Armenia. It's interesting the kind of people you meet when your talk to the stranger sitting next to you.

I head back home in a few days :)

Have you ever been on train? How was it?

  1. Wow, I can't believe it went that close to the coast! What a sweet ride. I got to ride a train a few times when visiting England last year and loved it.
