Going on a Train Ride

Yesterday I took a 4 1/2 hour train ride to go visit my family up north. I'd rather pay someone else to drive then deal with the traffic through L.A. It was totally worth the money. The San Diego train station is so pretty! It was first opened in 1915. Sometimes I'm a architecture geek :)

The trains are called Surf Liners for a reason. More than half the trip is right on the coast. Such a beautiful view.

It amazes me that we still use trains. I felt like I was in an old movie or something.

I was planning on watching movies on my iPhone and listening to music the whole time, but a nice lady from Armenia sat down next to me and really liked to talk. I didn't want to be rude, so we talked for almost the whole trip. She moved to the U.S. 10 years ago and hasn't seen her son since. He stayed in Armenia. It's interesting the kind of people you meet when your talk to the stranger sitting next to you.

I head back home in a few days :)

Have you ever been on train? How was it?

  1. Wow, I can't believe it went that close to the coast! What a sweet ride. I got to ride a train a few times when visiting England last year and loved it.

  2. i love the san diego train station! I wish the train was a more convenient means of transportation for me. I would take it all the time!

have you been to the LA Union station? It's also very pretty!

  3. Breeanna!!! I've been in that train station! Dan and I went down to San Diego for our honeymoon, and we took pictures there! AH! I should come to visit you. I love San Diego! xoxo

  4. That is a super pretty train station. I've never rode in one but I've always wanted to! I bet you'd have a lot of time to think of contemplate life.

  5. Wow, I had no idea that LA had a train system! But I would agree with you on avoiding that traffic! I just wish we had a train or subway in Houston! *sigh*

  6. i would love to take a spontaneous train ride. maybe i'll go from union station down to that pretty station in san diego?

  7. What a view!!! I want to take the train! I'm not sure where I would go, but I would love to go nonetheless!
