A few days ago, my brother got married to his beautiful new wife. It was a gorgeous wedding at a brewery. Silly me forgot to ask the bride and groom if I could use their lovely faces on my blog, and since they are currently on their honeymoon, I will have to wait to get the A-OK. Until then, I thought I'd give you a little sneak peak of shots I took and also some tips on photographing weddings.
Tip #1
Never be the official photography at a family members wedding. I had a wonderful time taking pictures, but I was so busy making sure to get every shot, that I didn't really get to enjoy the wedding. Now, I offered to take their formal pictures since they didn't hire a photographer, so I only have myself to blame. They originally didn't want to ask me to take pictures, so I could enjoy the wedding. Go figure.
Tip #2
Get a list from the bride and groom of what formal photos they want.
Tip #3
Make sure you are ready for all different lighting situations. If you miss a shot, you can't just redo it.
Tip #4
Weddings are a stressful event to photograph. There's a lot of pressure on you to get all the shots. Just be ready for that. Have an idea of what shots you know you have to get. Be prepared to be moving around a lot.
Tip #5
When shooting group shots, you need to be assertive and have a loud voice when directing others (especially when they have been drinking!)
Well, hopefully I'll get permission to post the other photos and show off my brother and my new sister-in-law!
Your pictures look beautiful! My dad(photographer) has done family weddings, and its so true, you dont get to enjoy it. Its way stressful.
